Polaris

Despite seeming like a peaceful, ethereal swirl of colors, nebulae are in a constant state of motion, with high-speed winds, stellar radiation, and particles of gas and dust caught in between. Just like a nebula, life can feel like it is constantly in motion, and you might feel like you are being pulled in opposite directions by high-speed forces. Take a break with our collection of paints, and retreat for some peace, surrounded by ethereal, multicolored walls, in a bubble of your making. Each of our paint is applied as a single color that, when dried, reveals a multitude of other colors, ranging from subtle hues to room-encompassing swaths of swirling stardust. Each can of paint and its results are unique in its drying process, revealing colors and patterns like no other.

To start off the design process we were asked to find two objects that represented or related to our brand theme. I was inspired by a previous class taken the semester before called The Universe, which was about physics and outer space, and decided to create a paint brand based on naturally occurring colors found in space. To the left are my two objects, followed by 100 sketches (below) exploring the different possible paths for the logo using both the objects and the topic as inspiration.
